The We’s Match was inspired by Lisa Yancey and Lynnette Kaid’s experiences seeking to build their company, SorsaMED. Along the way — despite participating in an entrepreneur incubator program — they felt few advisors understood them or the nuance and audaciousness of what it meant to be a Black female first-generation wealth builder. While lamenting with other entrepreneurs of color, they realized that they were not alone in their feelings. And so the name and algorithmic matching platform, “The We’s Match” was born, birthed out of the desire to see more similarly identified and values aligned people sitting on both sides of the table.
Early in the visioning Lisa and Lynnette found mutual passion and values alignment in the company’s third co-founder, June Wilson. June with years in philanthropy addressing systemic inequities and leveraging allied capital, joined Lisa and Lynnette, honing The We’s Match’s business model and focusing on Black women entrepreneurs.
Lynnette is the founder of Kaid ‘N Kolor, a graphic arts agency, and an incredible singer, songwriter, and guitarist. She studied marketing at Hawai’i Pacific University and has a background in business development. Lynnette is both the co-founder of The We’s Match and SorsaMED. Through SorsaMED, Lynnette is pursuing establishing the first biologics company founded by Black women to develop recombinant microorganisms and cannabinoids for chronic pain management to counter the opioid use epidemic.
June lives and works in Seattle. In addition to being a co-founder of The We’s Match, June is a philanthropic advisor, executive coach, and a fellow of the National Center for Family Philanthropy. She leads on issues of racial equity, community engaged practices, and organizational change management. June’s background leading organizations and operationalizing organizational strategy combines with her experience as a performing artist. She is adept at understanding the physical and emotional interactions of leaders successfully guiding them through transitions and organizational change.
Lisa is the President of Yancey Consulting, LLC, advising a spectrum of practitioners, nonprofit organizations, philanthropists, and philanthropic institutions committed to dismantling inequities, enriching disinvested communities, building leadership, and amplifying diverse perspectives.
